Spanx: the must-have undergarment for blushing brides, red-carpet-walking starlets, and...guys with guts? It's true: Shapewear for men is blowing up, reports the New York Times. “We are selling them as quickly as Spanx can make them,” says the men’s fashion director at Neiman Marcus of the "torso-enhancing" undergarments, which take the form of T-shirts, tanks, and undershirts. “Men may not be talking about it, but they’re buying it.”
The reasons for purchasing the undergarments (which aren't cheap; a Spanx tank top will set you back $55) are varied: to look better in today's tight-fitting shirts, to eliminate feeling self-conscious over things like paunches and nipples, to help with posture and back pain. But they don't eliminate all feelings of insecurity. “Spanx for Men is all good, until you meet a chick,” warned one man on Twitter. “You gain 45 lbs when you get naked.”
